What's wrong w/ my air filter bracket?

Of recent, I replaced one of the rubber air filter mounts on my sd. A week later it was broken again. My airfilter seems like maybe it is too close to the wall, so I took the bracket off to check it, but it seemed pretty straight. My car sounds like a rattle trap, and I keep breaking mounts, what gives?

try setting the idle up slightly, that may stop the vibrating air cleaner. or wath you can also do is install a buffer between the side of the air cleaner and the thhottle linkage plate on the valve cover, i have used the rubber buffer from the last mount on the rear muffler, drill a hole in he air cleaner housing, insert the buffer, cut off the top section of the buffer and install. this will hold the vibrations down

sounds like you might have bad motor mounts.

if they get bad enough you will swear that there is a guy with a 90 pound jackhammer pounding on your subframe! sitting crooked may be a clue to same as well.

First, it doesn't matter what you do with your bracket and air cleaner if your engine is shaking violently. So, first you need to assess/replace your engine mounts. Next you need to make sure your rack dampner bolt is of the right style (newer gold/brass colored) and adjusted correctly. Lastly on this front adjust your engine idle. All this cuts down on engine shake, which is what cause issues with air cleaner and associated hardware.
Then, you can install proper air cleaner hardware. I heartily suggest an "anti rattle" air cleaner mount kit from **************. It gives you a tip on where to have the air cleaner bracket strengthened, and gives you mounting hardware to secure air cleaner to bracket. Included are rubber stops, and locknuts to firmly secure upper and lower sides of the rubber stops. Also included is a rubber piece you mount between air cleaner and valve cover, which acts as a shock absorbing device. You just drill a hole in side of air cleaner and mount it.
Instructions for all this are included.
I'm happy with mine, but my main issue was engine mounts.
(do yall know how many times I type in "motor" instead of "engine" and go back and change it. It's so PEH won't correct me on the difference. He's warped me..... )

Darn I knew it had somthing to do with the engine mounts. I just didn't want to admit it. The thing is the engine itself doesn't really shake but the airfilter is a blur because its shaking so much! and with new brackets. Well, I'll put a mount on the passenger side and see what that does, thanks guys.
