cheapskate monvalve repair 300CD

Does anyone take apart the plunger thingy and replace just the diaphragm on these? I have been searching and searching for an online source for just the diaphragm, but have only found the kits with the whole plunger.
Cheapest source for the kit seems to be Performance4Benz at:http://www.performanceproducts4benz.com/default.aspx
But if I could I'd buy just the diaphragm.....
thanx Alberta Luthier

You can't buy just the diaphragm.

Here is something I found. I'm going to look at mine in a few minutes. I'm only getting warm/hot air on any setting (even economy at night with 50 degrees outside).

Thanx for the link tchtchr just what I was thinking of. I pm-ed him to ask if it is still holding up.
Thanx also BC for the Ebay link. That one is cheaper than I had found, (must have missed him during my search as I looked for "monovalve" and he said "heater valve". Do you think there is a differance in quality?

My diaphragm was torn, symptom was hot air from some ducts and cold from others
Thanx All,
Alberta Luthier

My diaphragm checked good although the screen had gunk on it. Checked my guage set on our Subaru and guages read fine. The Mercedes is drawing a vacuum with AC on! AARGH. I'm going to make post on this problem after I search a bit.

Mine is also drawing a vac on the low side, and I have been told my exp. valve is probably clogged. I'm fixing to start tomorrow on compressor, exp valve, rec/dryer, pressure switch, and flush (not in that order ).
I'm hoping for good luck, and of course expecting the worst.....

Thanx JimmyL, I e-ed him for a S&H quote. He does say 'MUCH more outside of the lower 48, so he is at least open about going for the customer's wallet
I may go with Performance4Benz $32+S&H or try and fix mine like our Hawian member who glued in a piece of inner tube. Might try that with something thinner/more flexable. I have a bit of latex rubber sheet around the shop somewhere...
best regards all,
Alberta Luthier

They are identical to the OE part. In fact, I'll bet that they come from the OE manufacturer. I've got two of them and they function perfectly.
