I bought to wrong manual, but will it suffice?
I am buying a '76 240D on Monday, and to use for work I got the Haynes manual that covers the 123 chassis. It said 1976 to 1980 something, including the 240D. But none of the examples look like mine, so I realized I have the earlier W115. First of all, is that correct? Second of all, I assume they didn't change a whole lot betwee '75 and 76', so can I get by with a W123 manual? Will I gain anything with the correct W115 manual?
In any case, MAN am excited to get this thing! It's a beauty! :D -Conybeare |
Well... I think the engine and transmission should be the same. But the rest will be different (at least a little). I don't know how much.

Your car is a W115, not a W123. Unfortunately there is not a Haynes manual available for the W115 diesels. The W123 should be similar for the drive train.

There is an on-line manual at http://mb.braingears.com

Those sites are kinda off and on, but who's complaining for free? ;)
It's working now, and the 115 section is a "GO". (I'm looking at "reconditioning the steering coupling' for a 115 right now. ;) ;) |

Since they are provided by someone, free of charge to us, I can't complain too much. It usually depends on the time of day and whether you are using dail-up or DSL/cable. Personally, I wouldn't think a $10/yr. subscription fee would be too much if they increased the bandwidth for easier access. |
