productive day for a newbie....

Good day for me and the Benz, thanks to the missus who enjoyed having me out of her hair for the day.

- fuel filters replaced (both)
- air filter replaced
- turbo opened up to check and see if it would spin freely (it did)
- oil changed
- left brake bulb replaced
- antenna lubed up
- rear seats "noodled"
- engine cleaned up
- body washed
- beers enjoyed

Worst part - not getting the rear seat to go back into place.

Best part - having my 8 year old only son (who hasn't shown a lot of interest in cars), install the fuel filter (except for tightening), and learn how to change an air filter. (plus what they both do, and why).

All in all, a good day.

Sounds like a good day. I did a few repairs of my own today:

I have a few more planned for the next few weeks including complete detailing of both cars, from cleaner to wax as well as vacuum and all that jazz. I did a nice Italian tune-up yesterday as well

Not quite. My mechanic degreased it pretty well and I just wipe it down every few weeks. If you look, the sides are still a little dirty

This weekend I took out the drivers seat of my 86 300SDL...

Seat springs were broken and the leather was bad. Arm rest lock was also bad.

I had pulled some less used seats out of a junk yard, but it turned out they had the wrong motors. The SDL seats had motorized headrests, which were broken.

The connectors to the motor were different too.

I ended up removing the bottom seat frame, installing a newer seat cushion.. Rewrapping the seatback with newer leather..

10 hours later.....its all back and working.. except the leather doesnt match, both palamino, just faded in different amounts.

What a !@#$

Yup, that is one "spanky" looking engine.

As for the toothbrush, I use Simple Green and thank God that power toothbrushes are so cheap these days. They are really good for getting into all the tight spots, although my engine looks nothing like yours. I was going to ask if you had a new one from a crate shipped in recently.
