Who sell Freeze 12 locally??

I hated hijacking the other thread.
I've almost surely decided not to go the R134A route, although I already have the cans. Upon reading way too many posts, and many inflammatory, I don't see any real reason not to give Freeze 12 a try.
I am only on vacation for the week, and am going to replace my compressor, rec/dryer, exp. valve, pressure switch, and flush the system with my new ebay flush gun. I want to complete the work this week, so I can't wait for Freeze 12 to be shipped, or I guess don't really want to wait.
I looked at a local Autozone and O'Rielly's, and neither had it. Does anyone sell Freeze 12 over the counter?
My wagon was converted professionally, and apparently accurately to R134A, which is the fittings that I have. Diesel Giant's tangible results have persuaded me to give it a try. Maybe I can either back him up later, or shoot him down, but I don't expect the latter really.
So, any local availability of this stuff???
Thanks!

i talked to my neighbor , he is an hvac tech and he says he can get me some cans of freeze 12 and help me put it in the system when i go repair the AC.. find an hvac tech.. by him a 6 pack and your good for some "over the counter" freeze 12.. but if you get 609 certification which is an open book test you can easily buy it yourself

Available Locally

We have two local parts stores that sell it. But their prices are nuts. I ordered through www.dieselgiant.com and since he's close, it all arrived next day. Chuck.

Try your local Napa, Carquest.

I buy it at the local parts store around the corner here.

Works well in my W126. I could never get 134 to work well.

"I don't see any real reason not to give Freeze 12 a try."--Jimmy

If you are having a problem with cooling with respect to the R134a then your best plan of action is to address the BOTTLENECK in our systems... this is only needed due to losing the efficiency of R12..which your system was built to use.

The BOTTLENECK is AIR ACROSS THE CONDENSOR. This can include dirt , bent fins, the need for a more efficient ( p- flow ) condensor... or a bigger more efficient fan... think Spol or something like that...
That is just the physics of the situation...

As I get older I use the opposite of your statement as my course of action.. I don't do things I don't have a good reason TO DO....

I've read up about the condensors (yes, I actually read something... ) and it seems like you open up another can of worms with them. I believe you can't flush a parallel flow condensor, so that almost is as replacement necessary as the rec/dryer at times.

Insert statement here on benefits of going original " ________________________"

It is true.......

That may be true... but in installing another non stock condensor you are going to have to do some ( probably unpleasant) tubing and hose routing anyway...
THUS it would be wise to install a proper filter IN FRONT of ( speaking stream flow wise ) the new P-Condensor.
That should reduce the probability of needing to flush it in your lifetime to pretty much nil.
But being COOL while stalled in traffic in the middle of summer here in Texas may be worth taking some extra care with the extra items needed to make your system work.

Freeze 12 is 80% R134a - if you use "Freeze 12" you will be 80% on the way to R134a.

Leathermang is correct here - do it right and use R12 or a higher flow condensor with R134a.

Well good grief! I called the larger local Napa, and sure enough, they had Freeze 12. $7.50 bucks a can. Cool.
So, I drive the half hour over there, wait my turn in line, get up to the counter and say "Freeze 12 please".
"
OK sir, can I see your AC license?"
"No, I said Freeze 12, not R12"
"I'm sorry sir, but it contains some HFC's, so you need a license to purchase it"

This is new info to me! Is this true??

No time like the present to take that 609 test.

Sorry Jimmy, I'm afraid he is correct. Freeze 12 is a blend of 80% R134a and 20% HCFC R142b.

(Note: Some manufacturers of blends state that it must be added as a liquid in order to maintain its characteristics. I'm not sure if Technical Chemical, manufacturers of Freeze 12, makes this statement or not.) Here is some info that might help:http://hostingprod.com/@aa1car.com/library/tr497.htm

what does it mean by "....it must be added as a liquid...."? does the freeze 12 can needs to be in an upside down position while charging or it doesn't really matter what the position of the can is while charging the system?

Too bad I didn't post earlier. You do need a license to purchase Freeze 12 - I know because I sell it. However, there are a lot of mom/pop and even a few independent Napa's that'll sell it to people without licenses because they don't know it's illegal. Call around first, but start with smaller parts stores in your area.
