1987 rear window regulator
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My right rear window on a 1987 300 TD will go down but not up. I have changed the regulator with a known replacement but the problem persists. I have checked the wires and they appear to be in good condition. Both the door switch and the front console switch appear to be working. Any assistance would be appreciated. Russell |

You'll want to check the wires that lead from the post into the door through the accordian tube. Mine exhibited exactly the same. Wire insulation was intact but the copper braid was broken. Otherwise it's the regulator.

dlssmith hit the nail on the head. This is a very common problem and its an easy DIY job if your are careful. What you need to do is to splice in new wires to replace where it flexes in the door joint and the copper work hardens under the insulation and breaks. Placing some shrink tubing over the wires helps to keep them all together, if you want to be real professional
