Help needed with the turbo from a om602.

Hi all!

For starting you'll have to try and understand me as I'm not a native english speaker and some stuff is hard to explain.

Past saturday I had my 190D 2.5turbo oil and filters changed. I also asked the mechanic to tighten a screw (I don't know if it's called like that) on the turbo as I suspected it was leaking oil. In the process he moved it vertically and the oil hose came tense. I asked him if the hose would brake staying like that or not, and he said not. I know I should have insisted to fix it but ... . Went on a 100ish km (60ish miles) trip on sunday and when came back I checked the hose and it was broken. I did fix it myself, but I'm wandering if I did damage my turbo or not. The problem is that some vegetable oil/diesel blend driped on the serpentine belt and it's whinning now so I can't really hear the engine, but for as much as I can hear it's working fine. Though as much as I tried in the city, in second and third, it's like sometimes I feel the turbo and some times it feels sort of slugish (might be even psychological).

Below I included a pic showing the hose I'm talking about.

Thanks for the help

Took her for a spin.

In light rain, lights + fog lights on, launching at ~2000rpm (manual 5 gear) with wheel spin in first and 2nd did 0-100kph (62.5mph) in 13.3sec and 60-100kph (37.5-62.5mph) in 6.5sec.

THe turbo seems to be working. There's some sort of rattling from the engine bay but can't understand where from since the belt is still whinning.

thats the hose that routes pressure from the turbo to the wastegate since its coming off the compressor housing. i belive

If you're right, what does it do? Anything very serious?

Need some help please.

That controls how much boost pressure the turbo puts out. It can be a VERY serious problem if you drive with it broken. You will risk melting the engine from the inside out if that hose is not fixed.

Come on man, it's $2 worth of hose and takes 5 minutes to replace. FIX it.

$2 vs broken engine... You choose.

I did fix it, as u can see from the pic. But until I saw it was broken I had already done 50miles or so. That's why I'm asking what sort of damage I might have done. I thought it was an oil hose.

Since it still runs and you don't notice any odd sounds/vibrations, you should be fine.

There is a little bit of oil in the line. Some oil seeps past the turbo seals and into the intake/wastegate housing. It's normal for an older turbo.

Thanks!

Unless you had the pedal to the floor over that 50 miles chances are your engine did not miss the wastegate. And hopefully the overboost protection system kicked in if boost got out of hand.
