My car got hit yesterday....great story about luck.

I had just finished washing my car and decided to meet up with some friends for dinner. I pulled into the parking lot and parked and was walking around the front when I saw a bumper coming at me from five feet and still doing ten or fifteen mph. I jumped but did not make it out of the way and was crushed in between the two vehicles. After a long ambulance-hospital mess I was found to only have crush injuries and no broken bones. I did realize an unseen safety feature. I reacted fast enough to get my feet over the bumper and was crushed in between a 03 dodge push bar and my grill which is quite forgiving thank god. Needless to say my car is pretty messed up needing headlights, grill, bumper, cross member is pushed into the radiator fan and a hood and I am hoping the other drivers insurance company will not try to total it. I still feel very very lucky.

Glad you're OK. Other driver's insurance company would be totally crazy to try and chisel you on the car repair, knowing how much more they could be liable for if you don't quickly make a full recovery.

Glad to hear you're OK. Good thing you jumped up.

Don't sue, just wait a while before signing his insurance co's release. They will pressure you to sign off. Make absolutely sure there are no lasting issues with your "crush" damage. You will get some "pain and suffering" money without sueing. I'm not a big beleiver in sueing, but they should compensate you for your troubles, issues, etc.

The driver should be charged with reckless driving. I shudder to think if a child had been in the way.

I second that and also DO NOT talk to anyone or make any statements. Especially over the phone. They will try to get you to do that too.
If they keep insisting tell them your looking for a lawyer.

You are tremendously lucky. Had your legs been crushed chassis frame against chassis frame you might have been looking at a permanent disability or worse.

Lawsuits can never bring back your legs. Count your blessings.

Yeah for a jackass mistake like that you should make them pay through the nose.

If you take the time to contact a good accident lawyer, you'll never have to work again in your entire life. And you won't have to pay the lawyer, he'll just take a percentage of the judgement.

You are not the same as you were before. If you have a bruise, the clot can move around in your body and cause problems. Don't brush off any scheduled return visits to the doctor.

The other driver is an aquantince of mine. He and my roomate were in the truck and when he hit the brakes nothing happened...no skidmarks. The truck is at the dealership getting looked at. I do not believe in profiting from something like this. If my health and my car are restored I will be happy.

Truck diagnosis. One of the vacuum lines to the brake booster was severed. Bad timing I guess.
