I could be wrong, but I don't think your engine has oil cooled pistons like the turbocharged engines to compensate for the resultant heat and pressure produced by the added fuel and boost. For sure, you would need an injection pump that would "know" when to add more fuel when boost is present. Boost without fuel has no effect.

You would be much better off buying a junk turbo car and installing the complete motor. It is not worth the expense of adding all the parts onto an engine that will not last, it was not built for the increased stress. I have had the same issues with VW diesels/turbos, much easier to swap the engine then to add the turbo later. If you still want to do it, I have a good used turbo from a 1980 300SD, $150. You will need to change the manifolds, exhaust system, air filter assembly, all intake hoses, injectors, injection pump, oil pump?, oil lines to and from turbo, oil pan? for oil return, oil feed line fitting, vacuum system?, transmission?,

Wait one minute !

I think the crank is different on a turbo motor, if you want to continue, I also recommend finding a junker (that is hit in the rear) there should be a mountain of them in the States. I've been hit there twice.
