Leaking IP?
I seem to have a leaking IP. As the photos show, there is quite a bit of oil (I assume diesel) on the top and leaking down to the driveway. Any ideas on what would cause this to happen? I have checked the fuel lines and there seems to be no leaking from them. The engine has started running a bit "rougher" over the last week, but not very noticable. I have not touched anything near that area since my glow plug replacement about 4 months ago... Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks, Dale

Looks like your classic delivery valve seal leak. Order a complete set of the copper shims and o-rings, as well as the tool to remove the splined delivery valve holders. Easy job, just clean the area well before opening up the pump.
You'll need a small torx bit to remove the retaining rings too. |

Yep, get yours hands on the slined socket and a good torque wrench. Make sure to follow the torquing procedure exactly or it won't run right.

I would clean the suspect area with laquer thinner because it dries up so fast. If not totally obvious where the leak is already. That would enable me to be absolutly sure of which seal was leaking. Then I would change just that one for now as there have been a rash of people changing all their seals and washers at the same time and having difficulty. By changing what is only required you reduce your odds of problems by 75 percent. Actually more on a five cylinder. Leaking fuel there would also easily account for your new rougher idle as well. If using the thinner still does not locate it the glow plug with the lowest milli volt reading should be the affected cylinder. Also might be located by loosening off injector lines to locate the cylinder with the smallest drop. Use of the thinner should locate it though.
