condenser
I just pulled the condenser out of the benz and I cant get 1 drop of oil out of it. Should'nt there be a couple of ounces in the condenser. There was some oil in the dryer and some in the evaporator so what gives?
Also how can I tell if there is a restriction in the condenser there are multiple paths the refrigerant can take so how would you know? |

Don't worry..
Because the flow is from the top to the bottom... it would not surprise me at all if you can't find any... If you have multiple channels it will be hard to tell if they are blocked... liquid poured or blown through under 3-5 lbs psi should show something... |

I recently flushed my system. There was much less oil in the condenser than there was in the evaporator. There was also plenty in the drier.

The flow in the evaporator is from bottom ( spray ) to the top as it changes to vapor from liquid... thus only what is carried IN the refrigerant travels with it... that is why Miscibility is so important...
The Receiver dryer is designed to have enough oil in it to keep the desicant bad under oil... and of course the exit is at the top .. so oil should be found in both those items compared to the condensor... |

Thanks. I am pretty sure I must have a blockage somewhere because in hot weather I get exessive high side pressures and poor cooling performance. As soon as the sun goes down or I drive really fast it works just fine.

Have you cleaned the fins on the evaporator ?
No chance you have too much oil in the system or too much refrigerant ? |

Could be too much oil.
You can expect to find an ounce or 2 in the compressor. Danny

I don't know how much oil was in my condenser when I flushed it, but the flush did come out very dark for a few flushes.

Here a question for you. How fast should the flush come out of the condenser?
The reason I ask is when I flushed the evaporator the flush flew out under pressure. But when I flushed the condenser it just kinda poured out. Maybe a little more than pouring out milk or soda. Danny

Quote:
I was using a flush gun, and flushing with alcohol. I would blow it in, and for several seconds there would be nothing, then it would forcefully puke out what seemed like almost all of the flush. Then I would follow with compressed air about about 100psi (what my regulator is stuck on....). Both the evap and condenser flush acted the same way.
