P.S. Belt replacement on a 123
I need to replace the power steering belt on my 1982 300D. the belt has liberated itself from the car and i need to replace it before i leave for work in the morning. what bolts do i need to looses so that i can get the belt on and are there any tips that will make the install smoother.

It's pretty easy, the PS pump is the outside belt so you don't have to remove any other belts. You need to loosen the 13 mm (I think) bolts and turn the adjuster bolt on the top outside of the pump CCW to loosen the belt. Replace the belt and turn the adjuster bolt CW to tighten it. Then retighten the bolts.

yep, there's 3 of them + and adjusting nut, 2 on the cylinder head side of the fuel filter , one of those 2 kinda of hidden below. All held with nuts on radiator side.
You'll need 2 13mm wrenches so you can hold nuts on the opposite side. Do not take them out all of the way or remove nuts, only loosen them enough to get the pump to move once you've loosened up the adjuster nut (nut is staring at you when you look at engine from drivers side and is also 13mm). just did this job to do alternator belts. a PITA the first time, but once you've done it once...
