'87 300D turbo hard shift into 2nd
Hi Guys,
I'm new here. I hope this is simple for someone...it's not for me. My 300D has started giving me a "clunk" sound going from 1st to 2nd gear. It doesn't seem to do it going into 3rd or 4th. Do you have any ideas what is causing it and how I can fix it? Thanks!

Verify no vac problems first.
If that checks out, it's probably suspension. My SD does that at times, it's the rear subframe mounts.

Thanks! A least I now have an idea of where to start looking. Any other ideas would also be appreciated. I'll let you know if I fix it or not...

Upper rear control arm most definitely. here's a short thread on the 124 rear suspension: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=150382&highlight=upper+rear+arm

Hey MickeyD, when you adjusted your ALDA, did you pull the intake? If not, how did you get under there? I wanted to adjust my ALDA, but the benefits don't seem to outweight the trouble of removing the entire intake.
