Oil on intake side of turbo bad?

The good is that my 90 sdl doesn't burn the 1 qt/3K that I thought it did.
The bad is that it's leaking it on the intake side of the turbo.
The turbo to oil pan tube is dry but the hose from air cleaner side to the turbo is dripping oil.
Will this progressively get worse or can I just live w/ it.
Oil consumption/leak has been steady for the 20K I have owned the car.

It all depends on how the oil is getting to the intake section of the turbo. If the front seals in the turbo are going it could get alot worse very quickly. If the oil is from the PCV you could have your valve guides wearing out in which case it won't get worse very quickly but will be more expensive to repair.

A couple of things I have tried seems to have helped.

One is to make sure the cyclonic oil separator system is in good shape by replacing broken air cleaner mounts and installing new o-rings on the bottom of the air cleaner where it attaches to the drain tube.

The other is to "clean" the system. At oil changes, I use motor flush in both the separator, inside the air cleaner, and through the drain tube. (My thinking is that crud may have accumulated in the drain due to broken air cleaner mounts not holding things in place.)

This is an excellent idea for an OM617, though I don't think that bad air cleaner mounts have much to do the accumulation of crud. Bad mounts might back splash oil out of a cyclonic seperator though. Of course his is an SDL which was the air cleaner mounted on the fender well.
