300SDL smoking, losing power.
 

Hello,

My poor 300SD was just totaled in a crash, and I replaced it with an 87 300SDL. The car starts up ok and appears to hit on all cylinders. The problem is that there's a good amount of smoke over 2000 RPM, an oil smell in the exhaust, and max speed of about 80 MPH. I know these cars aren't race cars, but they should be faster than that. What could be the problem? IP timing? Tranny modulator?
