Hot air from floor......(not from heater)

Hi Guys,
I have noticed when driving Rag Doll at speeds of over 60 mph, I get heat coming in from the driver side footwell area. I cant really tell where its coming from exactly, but I think somewhere near the parking brake/left side kick panel.

The AC keeps the upper part of the car cool, but the lower I can feel the hot Texas air creeping in. It's quite uncomfortalbe when you're wearing shorts. When I slow down, below 60, I dont get the warm air.

Anyone experienced this or heard of such an issue? I may pull the kick panel this weekend and have a look.

My Floorboard is solid, just recently repaired with POR-15 and some undercoat. There was only surface rust. I have no idea where else the warm air would be seeping in from.

Thanks in advance.
Dub

This also happens to me, 1981 240D. Also happens in my pickup. I think it is heat coming up from the transmission, and just plain 'hot' air, etc. In my pickup I just suffer, (no air). In my MB, I open up the 'floor' air passage, and this way, cool air comes thru the normal air passages, and also on my feet. This works very well.

You must have an air leak someplace up there that's letting hot air in from the engine compartment. Check all the openings (wires, speedometer cable, vacuum lines) to make sure the seals are intact.

Hmmm.... does the 123 have the evaporator drain inside the center console and next to the accelerator pedal? I wonder if the foam has deteriated around it?

An UPDATE

I checked around the floor and found the speedo cable is pulled back from the grommet slightly, so I rearranged that.

SD BLue, Good point on the AC Drain. The drain was non existant, so I fixed it with a cut up 20 oz soda bottle. Im wondering if thats where the warm air is coming in from. its very annoying. Not strong enouigh to feel the breeze, but enough to feel the warm air!

I will do more 'exploratory surgery' this weekend.

Check your booty, Check your booty! (sing it)

My W210 had a strong hot breeze from the driver's side under dash area, especially with sunroof open. Turns out the rubber boot around the steering shaft had all but fallen off. You won't see the boot from inside the car but from underneath it's obvious. Got the replacement from Fastlane, one bolt removed and a half hour labor and it's fixed! What a return on my time and $ (the boot was cheap). Thanks again Mercedesshop.com!!
