Air Cleaner Rubber Mount Heat Shield Orientation

This may be a retarded question, but what is the proper orientation of heat shields on the rubber mounts? Cup side up, or cup side down?

The heat shield sits like a cup with the support mount stuck through it keeping it locked down in place.

So, cup side down, I guess.

That's funny, I would see that as cup side up!

So flat part down, with the opening up. Got it.

Now if I can just get that bottom 13mm bolt out...

Correct, install with the opening up, to protect the rubber from the hot exhaust manifold/turbo, below.

I just did mine, after some messing around I got the 13 mm bolt out by using a 13 standard socket with a universal joint and an extension (about 12"). I got to it from the front (too much angle from the back) and was able to push the socket into the bolt fairly hard while turning it. I found the socket wants to jump off the bolt if you don't push it on pretty hard while turning. I probably wasted 20 minutes messing with it before I found the best angle. It's a PITA, but it's do-able.

BTW, where are you located?
