Driveshaft support 1980 300td

Ok, I think I narrowed down my problem. Should I be able to move the drive shaft signifigantly at the drive shaft support? I can wiggle it around about 1/2 to 1 inch up and down and side to side. I would think this would cause my problem. with the vibration/shaking when accelerating hard. If its not right, then what all is required to replace it? (what parts) also is there a writeup on it, or upload from the manual? thanks in advance

You will be able to move it noticeably, remember, it is made of a bearing, suspended in a piece of soft rubber that's molded into a folded over flap shape, like an "S" if you looked at a cross section of it, and bonded to the body mounting bracket. You need to get a flashlight, put the car up on ramps or stands, and look at it while you move it, if it looks like the rubber has ripped/split or separated anywhere then it's toast, otherwise, you might have a brinnelled bearing in one of the joint spiders or the bearing inside the support might be bad, only way to check the joints and bearing is to pull the shaft and rotate the joints by hand to feel for stiff or rough spots in the movement, or a wobbly dry sounding support bearing. Also the joints should have zero "slop" when twisted.

BTW, Brinnelling is when a bearing has too small of movement, or dries and the rollers begin to stay in one spot, causing the rollers to wear indentations into the race, which creates a ratchety feel or stiffness to move. Also creates harmonics and vibration.
