123 Lower Control Arm Rubber Bearings

I'm currently in the process of rebuilding the front end of my 300CDT. So far I've replaced (or have at least removed the old component) the ball joints, upper control arms, tie rods, drag link, idler arm, and wheel bearings.

However, I'd like to also replace the rubber bearings that the lower control arms rotate within at the frame attachment point, as they look pretty worn. Is there any way to get these out and replace them without utilizing a spring compressor?

Everything else has gone fine with a load put beneath the spring, but I feel like the spring would probably explode in my face were I to remove the bolt holding the lower control arm in there that runs through the rubber bearing, as that is the only anchoring point counteracting the downward pressure (besides the shock absorber).

I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it without unloading the spring. But I guess it can be done.

Anything can be done if you are extremely careful and know exactly what you are doing.

But, why would you take that risk?

Isn't your life worth more than $30.00?

$30? I was quoted by Performance Products at $85 plus a $515 refundable deposit up front. If you know where I can get it for $30, I would be much obliged.

I'm not sure about the value of my life at $85, perhaps $30 .

Thanks (preemptively) for your help.

Check our "tool rental program" lately?

There is a separate forum........right on the first page.........you can't miss it.

I think your life is worth $30.

Oh, EXCELLENT! I hadn't seen the sticky for a while; I didn't realize it had been made into its own forum! Do you think you could PM me with the specific terms of the rental (assuming you do have one to rent right now, of course)?

Thank you so much! That is a huge weight off my shoulders!
