tachometer, odometer

'83 300DT - Tach works fine most of the time, but occasionally swings wildly from 500 to over 5000 rpm. Does this sound like the amplifier? Also, fixed trip odometer with slipping gear, but now odometer doesn't work...???

Yup! thats the symptoms of a bad tach amplifier
