Expansion Valve location 83 300SD

Hi all

I have been told I probally need an expansion valve for my 83 300 SD Ac system. Does anyone know were it is located?

Remove driver's side knee panel. Right above accelerator pedal and toward midline, under dark grey foam "clamshell", four metal hardlines attached to it.

its going to take some special bent wrenches to get it out from what ive been told

Crow feet wrenches 17, 19, 22, 24 mm. I have crow feet flare, but only up to 22mm.and regular for the 24mm. Works well, but your upside down when removing it. Be careful not to cross thread when installing.
