Some conceptualizing (photshopping)

I have big plans for my 300 SD

Tell me what 'yall think I have the materials and the means to do this with airbags CHEAPLY.. I'll be making patterns as I go so that if anyone else wants to I can fab them a kit so they can do it as well! and I'm not sure if I spelt conceptualizing right

it looks cool, but when it gets down that low you will probably have a huge amount of negative camber on both ends of the car.

also you wont be able to drive it normally like that.

personally i wouldnt want to have to creep around.

maybe 2" of lowering is actually usable, imho

I like it. The new airbag suspension kits for older cars are pretty good. I saw some tests on a TV show with some older cars on a racetrack, and they outperformed cars with upgraded spring/shock type suspensions. I would put one on my 300D if it were available. It doesnt have to stay that low with airbags.

Put some chrome deep dish 22's on it, tint the windows, and get yourself some gold teeth. That would be very entertaining for the rest of us.

Anyone want to trade an old Volvo for an '87 300sdl?

Exactly! With the airbags, the fully inflated height will probably be the same or a little lower than stock height, then if I'm going for a little effect at shows or on the highway I can bring it down a little, it'd only be that low in the pictures when it's not moving, due to turning clearance issuses....I don't think It'd look too "greasy" at all. it'd be tastefully done, unlike......

Save all the original parts, don't cut anything. You may want to sell the car to a sane person someday.

Lowering isnt really my thing but its always neat to see the finished product. Don't let the nay sayers here discourage you. This site is full of people who love the cars just as they came from MB. Thats what makes this forum so great. Dedication to the design. However, its not like your carving up a rare prototype. Go for it! And post the results with some details about the ride quality and tire wear and such.

If you do that you may suddenly find people trying to buy "recreational pharmaceutical products" from you.

All that's really going to be altered are the wheels and tires and the air springs are going to replace the coil springs, and that's all I really need to do...
so, no, to the relief of many the car won't be horribly butchered.... I'd never live with myself if I let that happen....

Thanks for the kudos, I'll be sure to do a damn nice job just so I can impress all the hardcore MB fans

BTW: in that image I first posted, those are the stock wheels....looks pretty good eh? I might leave my wheels stock. When driving (like I said earlier) it will be inflated to stock ride height....
