Rubber bump stop for gas door 82 240D
I found a rubber bump stop to replace the one that has gone to goo. Found in a pack at O'reilly's. Part number 961-375,1/2,5/8 is on the pack. The 1/2 round by 5/16 high worked great on my door. Price for the pack was $1.59.

bumper fits great
Those work great, picked up pack this afternoon. Guy at store didn't know what I was talking about since had not brought part number with me. Wandered around until I saw them. Thanks for the tip.

Got mine! Works even better than a new OEM rubber stop, so the actuator rod actually goes through the door now.
Just wondering, what method did you use for putting the slightly large end piece through that small mounting hole? Couldn't get mine on without tearing it up a little.

push and pull
I started it in from the front, then grabbed the part sticking through the hole with my fingers and pulled it through. That seated the flange part without any trouble. Easier than I thought it would be.
