Any diesel Thermo King experts?
 

I found a diesel Thermo King refer unit that has, I believe a Isuzu diesel and was wondering about the btu rating and fuel consumption.
I thought of using it as an ethylene glycol chiller for a shop and use the coolant thru an exchanger to heat water while running on wvo.

Is it a horizontal = bed mounted
Vertical = covers the front wall of trailor
or
over the cab wall mount ???

Some of those ThermoKings use Mercedes diesels...mebby an OM636 would bolt up?

the early ones used a three cylinder version of the 616 i am told.

Carriers use MB's:D (used to)

Its a vertical unit which covered the front wall. I was hoping it had a MB diesel but it looks to be an Isuzu or some other Jap make.
The engine must be made for Thermo king as it has the logo cast in the block.
Seller says it ran and cooled good but it has been laying on its side for almost a yr. I wonder how much oil is in the combustion chamber?:eek:

i would just take a socket and turn it by hand to see if there is a hydro lock and go from there.

Well... at least I can recover, as the plate says, "15lbs of R12" :eek: out of it if nothing else works.
Man, this thing is heavy. My loader would barely lift it off the trailer.
I'll let it set upright for a few days and try to turn it over with a wrench. If it works I may just use it to cool a shop someday. (project #268)

Its that diesel disease one gets from owning an old diesel MB. Otherwise, I would not have hauled this thing home.

If you have a small trucking company near you that runs refers you might try stopping by and asking them what the fuel consumption is.
