air filter woes

here today i go to pepboys pick up oil, oil filters, air filter, gear lube, and fuel filters. i first have a problem getting the car onto the ramps as they kept sliding. problem 1. i've done it before it the ramps just kept sliding. problem 2. i took my car to the local MB deal about 2 or 3 months back for a free inspection. now back to present i attempt to take the screw out of the center of the housing holding the cover on. continues turning endlessly. my guess is the idiot they had look at my car tightened it too much now i can't get to the filter as i changed it. currently soaking in wd40. i really hope i don't need to cut it off cause if it comes to that the car is being driven there tomorrow and someone is going to get an earful as i do not want to pay for their mistake of over tightening. any idea on an easy way to solve this problem?
