fuel leak - replacing fuel line

I have an 82 300SD. The last two days, I have had a puddle of fuel on the ground near the passenger rear tire. Today there isn't one but my I'm now on 1/2 full. I suspect that the leak may be on a fixture that is on the upper half of the tank. I was wondering what the most likely spot was or if there was a "typical place" where you would get a leak.

Secondly, if I'm going to get into this I thought I might start replacing my fuel lines with Vitol fuel lines in prep for running biodiesel. Does anyone know what diameter lines I would need? Are there any pitfalls I should watch out for?

dm,

If the leak was in the tank, the floor of the trunk would be wet with fuel.

If floor isn't wet, the leak is from one of the fuel lines. Check if any of the lines are wet with fuel.

Are U sure its fuel leaking? It could be brake fluid.

The puddle was most definately diesel. I'll pull out the trunk mat tomorrow and see if I can see anything obvious.

You don't have an amp or a speaker screwed into the tank, do you? I have seen that done with amps (screwed to the front wall of the trunk, right into the tank).

No, I don't have an amp in yet but plan to install one. I'll attach it to the panel outside the car then put the panel back. I did have a chance to pull out the carpet and back panel and didn't see anything obvious. The sunken well on the passenger's side smelled of diesel but I didn't see any drips or obvious leaks. The car hasn't leaked in a while. I suspect that it may be the gasket where the cap fits. The car stopped leakin fuel when I got to 1/2 a tank.
