How much money should be right for a 10 year old mb diesel car

I am new here but not to MB diesel cars. I have owned and driven a 240-d, 300d over many years and am now ready for the newer 210 car.

How much money should be right for a 10 year old mb diesel car? What is the market availability and how much?

A 150k car is what I'm lookin for.

They used the 606. Similer to a 603 but with a better head.

The model to get is the 1998-99 E300D. They come with the turbo charged and intercooled 606 and move right along. After driving one the NA 606's are let downs power wise.

I have not seen a nice W210 gas or diesel for under $10k. But I have seen a lot of cars that are tired in that price range. Or with sky high miles.

I know a guy who owns a used car lot that deals with mostly MB's. I was talking to him about W210's his words were: "Buy a 2002 E320 and be done with it, the most trouble free of them all." As for price range, if you want nice expect to pay $15kish.

Where are you located?

Is that color black? Do you have a service history?

I am in Austin, TX. New transmission about 8K miles ago along with new AC system. Glow plugs and injectors replaced 4K ago...oh also new battery at that time as well. New tires 7K ago michelens. Have all paper work. Color is dark blue, tan leather. Also reciepts for lots of oil changes. This was a company car....so its all highway miles well 95%.

We had one at a local auction last week for $600.
300K Michigan salt miles, running on three or four cylinders with a rod knock, transmission puking, ride height was roughly two inches in the front (suspected broken spring perch's), all glass broken, front end crunched, rear end crunched, both front seat backs broken, all exterior lights broken.

But it still moved, sort of...

I'm located on the east coast and would have liked to seriously considered your offer but if unless you could deliver to the north east, it's not likely available for me!

I would like to look more closely at the market for this type car before calling anyone. This a start for me but want to look deeper and understand other possibilities if any. I'll keep you posted.

I have a 95 E300D and I admit I do have turbo envy. But the 95 W124 diesels are nice cars and go down the road just fine thank you!

No matter which car you buy, try to buy one where the glow plugs have been replaced. I just paid $$$ to have the head removed to get a glow plug unstuck. With the 210 (96-99) be sure to get the spring perches checked out.

With any of these cars records are important. An $8K car could easily need $4K in things like tires, brakes, suspension, fuel lines, glow plugs, the list goes on. Actually that's probably true with any 10 year old car....watchout for the cars with deferred maintenance.

How reliable is the 722.6 transmission used in all but the early '96 models? I'm looking for another 210, and while I'd love to find another one built in '95 (as is mine), that looks highly unlikely.

I may have to break down and buy a Jetta TDI. I sat in one the other day (didn't drive it), and it was comfortable, but the interior just seemed small.
