my trim around the doors, the kind that shrivels up with age isnt shriveled and ive got 262,xxx miles on the car nor does my odo slip.. verified by a carfax

My guess is that the shrivel is more dependent on exposure to direct sun and heat for years than to age itself.




Not every odo slips, just a lot. I wouldn't put it past that seller to actually roll it back, or replace it with one that was modified or "repaired".
I got a speedo/odo assy out of a '78 300D from a salvage yard, and it wasn't working. I repaired the slipping gear and installed it in the smoker. (I did notate that when I sold the car. )
