ticking on my 603

Well ive noticed a ticking at idle or when driving with the window down.
When i was looking under the hood it sounded like it was coming from the #4 injector area. The injector was wet so i suspect the ticking is from the injector leaking?

Im scared that it might be my head developed a crack, but there is no oil consumption nor has the car been overheating. Stays at 80 all the time. coolent resivior is still full of coolent. And ive been running it on the new Ultra low sulfur diesel recently no veggie oil or biodiesel this past month.

what do you guys think?

I don't think there's any correlation between injector leaking and head cracks. The head cracks in the valve seat area.

hmm, well from doing a little more reading i came across this thread.

http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=109093&highlight=ticking+603

Could it be my lifters? in the thread they all suggest synthetic oil. But i do have a german synthetic oil in the engine already. Its ELF 5w40...

Hatterasguy, suggests mobil 1 synthetic. And i have the new mobil 1 turbo diesel 5w40 that i ordered online. Just waiting for the next oil change to put the oil in.

Thumbs up

Probably lifters, they all make some noise. Or could be an injector(s).
