240D missing vacuum line??

I'm starting to get the 240D in shape for my son to take to college. Was about to take out the Vacuum brake booster and swap with one of my parts cars. Then I noticed this part that seems to need a hose attached. I looked all over and could not find a loose hose. Any idea???

Nothing missing off that tube. It needs to be that way.

It's just a vent line for the injection pump to adjust the fuel for altitude. If you put a vacuum line on it, you will hurt performance.

Thanks Forced Induction. Is there any way to improve performance on the 240D?? I'm thinking of swapping the motor out of the 300DT. It's a whole lot quicker on takeoff than the 240D. But I don't know of any way to increase HP or throttle response on the 240D. Seems like when you first start it it is really slow to take off. However, when it warms up a little, it's a little quicker. Is this normal??

Your poor son!

Surf! You're not downgrading your son to the 240D are you? For his sake I'll say that it's not as safe as a 300. it's too slow, he'd be in danger in today's fast paced hectic traffic. ; ). Besides, It takes and older, more seasoned man to appreciate the mechanical simplicity, reliability and elegance of the 240D.
By the way it was great meeting you and everybody at the central florida gtg. Your hospitality was greatly appreciated by all in attendance.

Hey Dale. It's my oldest son who drives an Astro Van right now that the 240D will be for. My youngest son ( that was at the GTG ) is still driving the 420SEL. We were going with the 240D because the A/C still works. The 300's with the ACC is such a PITA. I was looking at the possibility of swapping motors though.

You can adjust the ADA (Like the ALDA on turbo engines) and get a little better power. Adjust the screw CCW until you see black exhaust smoke, then turn it back a bit.
