Question w123 wiper relay

Wipers started getting intermittent then stopped. Does anyone know where the relay for the windshield wipers is located on an 83 240D?

Thanks!

I had the exact same problem, replaced the fuse, now it works great. Even thought the fuse wasnt blown and looked in good condition, it still was bad. try replacing the fuse and see what happens

Take off your drivers side panel below dash. Relay is in the far upper left corner on firewall. You have to be very flexible to remove it. Getting it back in is even worse, at least for me. My body don't bend like it use to.

Easier way

I think that this is much easier to access if you take the instrument cluster out. Some people say that they have trouble with the speedometer cable, but I find that if I hook up everything else first (oil line, electrical connector, bulbs, spade for the clock) then I can just reach in and spin the speedo collar on.

X2 as kurt said. Pull the cluster and it is in the left rear side.

the earlier W123 it is a silver box about the size of 1/2 pack of cigaretts, and the later W123 is a smaller black plastic one.

I find it easier to get access behind the cluster, is to remove the spedo cable at the transmission, 1 10mm bolt, remove 1 or 2 clamps. they just push into a hole in a bracket. squeeze the little tits and they release. then push it through the firewall. push the cluster out from under the dash, and with the cable loose you can get your hand in to remove the wires, cable and oil line with lots of room.

NOTE>>> DO NO START ENGINE WITH OIL LINE DISCONNECTED <<<
