One year ago to be exact. I couldn't drive her when I got my licensee because the trans was out. As it turns out my firm shifting was a defective unit. Sun Valley has ben great to deal with, they sent me a valve body with no hassle and then just a new unit. Only has cost me my time to do the work. I would still highly recommend them.

Wow, that's disconcerting. Any clue as to what they screwed up to begin with? This type of behavior is common to Adsit, where they can't get a transmission built correctly the first time.

If the labor was done by a mechanic, you'd be severely hurting to R & R the unit twice.

Any further info as to what their answer is would be good to know.............

That sounds just a tad longer that book time. Good job! Did you do that on the floor or with a hoist? How about air tools?

4 jack stands with a decent selection of manual hand sockets and wrenches. The only tool I NEEDED but did without was a 10mm allen socket for the starter bolts. I somehow managed with an allen wrench.

All I have to say is that these trans are heavy enough to knock the wind out of you.

If that was slightly longer then book time (dealer with air toold / hoists / etc..), I feel like a god.

Five and a half hours to do a transmission? Ha, thats nothing! Once I changed a fuel filter in ten minutes flat with nothing but a crescent wrench and my bare hands!

Wow, nice job Adam.

I feared quite recently that Sady would be needing a new transmission... It was flaring a lot, and really was not right. (Fluid level was normal) Then after some testing today I find that it's a vacuum problem and that disconnecting the tranny from vacuum causes it to shift right on time Lucky me... now I just need to solve some vac issues.

Happy Birthday! I hope you had a good day.

Call me sometime, let me know how you've been.

Will do Andy, I just got a new job with a software company I need to tell you about.

I just finished fine-tuning the trans and wow what a difference! She shifts like the Volvo, quick but gentle.

Nice

Nice job man!

If mine ****s the bed I'll fly you down..Go to sleep, and have a brand new shifting car

Also quick question for you Adam...my torque converter area has been leaking some sort of weird fluid..not ATF, not crankcase oil, but something. I want to check the TC drain plug for leaks. Any idea what side its on on these old /8's?
