O rings on filter shaft - size and source

Can I get generic O rings for the oil filter shaft in a 617 motor ?

Anybody know the size to use.

Mine have never been replaced.

I suppose a dealer won't charge much, but the dealers are not conveniently close to me.

I think they're .34 at FastLane.

I just ordered 4 sets of these O rings from ************************ at 55c per set.
Get one of their printed catalogs, they give expoded views of all MB areas with apropriate parts, even if you do not intend to buy from these folks the catalog is a fine resource to have.

EDITED! Deleted previous post about having lots of them hanging around.

Wow, did I jump on the wrong thread! I thought we were talking about fuel filter o-rings.

Someone said they had to be able to withstand high temperatures. I ended up getting them for 40 cents each at the dealer.

on edit see post #20 here http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=158318&page=2

those little o rings

Changed them recently on my om601 (190D). Got them from phil. Trying to quiet the lifters. They were so brittle that they cracked into two pieces as I pried each one off.
I'm not sure they were ever changed. Seems to be helping my noisy lifter problem.

I thought mine were part of the shaft! I popped them off with a little screwdriver and they just disentigrated. Oil Pressure is always above 2 when hot now!

I just ordered some from Fastlane. They are listed in the on-line catalog but are described as gasket housing gaskets (alongside the bigger gasket housing o-ring). .36 I think.

Ouch!

Dealer price is now $2.50 each! At least I now have the correct size and can check local parts suppliers or order from FastLane.

I replaced mine this evening as part of an oil change. They were more "plastic" than "rubber." This also means that my $100/hour indy mechanic missed them when he did a 15,000 mile service in April. Thank goodness for this forum! It will be interesting to see if I can detect any difference in engine sound, feel, or operation.
