Looking for a wrecked 300D with a good engine
I am bidding on one on ebay, but people keep pushing up the price
I would like to pay $600 or less for a wrecked 300D with running engine. Mine is an 82 without EGR so another one would be perfect. distance from me is also a factor. If you are close to me, I'll save money on transport and I can pay YOU more. you can email me MB300D@resago.com or post in this thread Thanks. I find this forum invaluable.

maybe
If the one on ebay gets stupid, I might.
do you know what he'll take? I would use a transport company to pick them up. These guys are pretty reasonable: http://www.mcnutttransport.com/pricequote/default.aspx

I also have a 300SD, '83. It's near St. Louis, and will be available "soon." It's our spare car now, but will be replaced shortly. It's been hit and will go very cheap, but it runs and drives pretty well. I need to replace it before selling it.

Well, I'm looking at a local '97, which I may buy. Or I might buy a new VW TDI instead. But I'm going to get something, because I don't want to put any money into repairs on this SD. Its exhaust is trashed (but "temporarily" patched). The steering is too loose for comfort, and the ball joints are noisy. Still, we use it occasionally, and every time, I realize just how much more comfortable it is to drive the '96 E300.
But the engine was supposedly fully rebuilt about 75K miles ago (according to the PO and his mechanic) and runs great. The biggest minus on this engine is that you will have to pick it up. But I believe it will make it anywhere in the US under its own power. |

I can get you a running turbo motor, PM me.
Also, '82 had EGR...

thank you everyone, I've found a good engine.
my '82 does not have a sign of egr, not even a plate where it is supposed to be.? http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=158371 just lucky I guess, I'll probably transplant my intake on the new(used) engine.
