that, coupled with a Manifold leak is my noise, and the "kicking in and out" is the the engine rocking flexing the "flex pipe" and periodically closing the leak...

so I priced some 3" tubing and 90 degree mandrel bent sections and I'll rebuild that later when I have time...

I admit that the sound is REALLY awesome when it's constant..
My Wastegate is on the bottom with the diaphram towards the front...is that a KKK or Garret Turbo?

Can someone post a photo of either turbo? I'd like to look at the waste gate area to compare with mine, I think Mine may have been hobbled by someone previously.....
ever see a model airplane engine... the KKK waste gate looks like that but bigger and its pointed 90 degrees to the passenger side.. plus a triangle with KKK in it is on the compressor housing

If I recall correctly, someone mentioned that it was a good idea to retain flex pipe in its current location. This was due to engine vibration and the possibility of damage to other components such as turbo and exhaust manifold.

well, if the flex pipe is supposed to be there, I wi re-locate it to immediately after the down pipe straightens out....but if nobody makes 3" flex pipe then I won't bother, I'll just make sure that I use some other way to dampen the vibration....

Napa, $12.99/ft. They also have aluminized 3" tube for $45/10ft and many 90* and 45* mandrel bent tubes for ~$25 each.

yeah, I get a 33% discount at a local mufflershop because I send alot of work there, they'll sell 3" 12foot lngths to me for $5.00 a foot and yeah, about $25 for the mandrel pieces...

Does anyone know the flange size on the outlet of the turbocharger? I've searched and I get nothing...

I'm not sure about your on-line sources in Canada, but most of them I found here have the whole assembly, listed as "header pipe", for about $125US. It may be worth it to order a pre-assembled unit.

That's fine, I'm perfectly capable to building my own exhaust system.
an I'd rather build it myself, if I got a shop to do it it'd run me about $500

I'd rather be able to do it myself and know it's done solidly for $200 or less...

it's a cool sound, but because it is a leak, it does sound a little sickly, sometimes it pulses like the turbo charger is cutting in and out, I guess that'd be just the leak plugging and unplugging....I'm probably going to re-do the entire air intake and exhaust system. I got a bug in my head to polish my valve cover and intake manifold...
You got it, mine did the exact same thing. It wouldn't be there at low throttle (say under 1/4), but it would start abruptly if you put your foot into it. Now what we need to figure out is how to make the turbo more audible while keeping the engine noise down so it sounds like the turbo on a VW TDI

Hence the 3" mandrel bent exhaust system! and HIGH flow chambered muffler.

Q: Would a "blow off" valve sound the same on an auto matic diesel as it does on a gasoline engine?

A BOV sounds really really REALLY (Word for "not straight") on a diesel.
