Where does this vacuum line go?

I was under the dash fixing the A/C drain hose. I was getting ready to put the kick plate back on when I noticed a vacuum line just hanging there. It is black and comes from the IP, goes through the firewall through that big gromment with a bunch of other vacuum lines. I found the end just hanging right by the steering collom. I looked but couldn't find anywhere that it would go. I started and drove the car, seems fine, stops ok, but I can't believe that Benz would just have a hose hanging.

Thanks in advance

Peter

Could that be the fresh air line? The vacuum system uses fresh air taken from the cabin as opposed to the air from the engine compartment. I can't be certain that is what it is though. Anyone else have any thoughts?

That line is a vent. Mine is not connected to anything. I've heard it runs into the cabin because there is fresher air there (as opposed to being under the hood).

Thank you for a quick response. I could believe it is a vent. Where it is sitting, it looks like it should be there. If anyone else has any thoughts, please go ahead.
