I guess it is because they are perfect.

NPR...National Public Radio....your tax dollars at work! I listen to NPR and Rush Limbaugh and I reckon the truth lies somewhere in betwwen the two.

Car Talk is a hoot...I don't think they really fix many cars...but those guys are funny, I don't care who you are! Don't tell anyone, but I also like The Splendid Table...a somewhat high toned cooking show. Hey! We gotta drive and we gotta eat too.

A woman called into them once when I was listening asking if she should buy her friend's "1978 450SEL diesel to run on veg" I am assuming they had dropped a 617 into it, very interesting! That was one heck of a frankenbenz! A 617 powered WVO 450SEL...wow.

If their archives are still on-line, you'll see they have a very low opinion of 240d's.

The remaining half of NPR's budget comes from member stations and the fees paid by stations to purchase our programming. Car talk is excellent and fun. These guys seem smart because they are:

Both of them are graduates of MIT. I've been listening to them since the 80's.

They caught an enormous amount of flak a couple of months ago when they (as so many people do) misunderstood the difference between biodiesel and WVO. Their web site ended up with a special mea culpa section on that subject.

Today's show [29 July 2006] is especially good -- the lady from Alaska who wanted advice on summer exercise for her sled dogs, the famous last words ("What's that button do?" ... "Where's the mama bear?" ... "Oops!").
