240D center console

Hi folks!
I just added to my diesel "collection" by purchasing another 82 240D. I had an 81 years ago and own a 300D now also. I always regretted selling my 240D back then. This 240D has the wood accents and the center console is cracked fairly severely. My previous 240D had a somewhat Spartan black plastic console that one never had to worry about cracks. Does anyone know where I could find such a lowly black plastic replacement? This is going to be an everyday driver.
Thanks!
Stan

I think your best bet will be a junk yard. AFAIK the 240s all had the black console. It is possible that somebody got one of those wood accent kits off of ebay and stuck it over the stock black console. Check under the wood before you try to replace the whole thing.

Will Check

I'll pick it up the vehicle tommorrow after work. To tell you the truth, I don't recall if it has power mirrors....I know that it DOES indeed have power windows (unfortunately). I'll post tommorrow the results. I wasn't aware that 240D's didn't offer zebrano accents....Hopefully IMBROKE will have one that will work for sale.
Thanks
Stan

The later 240D's had the wood trim. My '83 has it and that's the way I bought it some 24 years ago.

83 240D has wood around the switches in both the center console and the upper switches above the AC controls.

You cannot glue the wood to the black plastic. The small plug at the back of the wood trim is taken from the plastic part and cut to size for the wood trim.
The black plastic should be available at the dealer. For a daily drive go to the junk dealer for one. It may have to be wood, the plastic may be hard to find. Just match the switch arrangement.

OK....picked up the car and the wood console has power window cutouts, the flasher cutout BUT NO POWER MIRROR. The wood is really better shape than I thought but a clean black plastic one would still look better. IMBROKE......do you have one as I described?
