What do you think... $175. for 25lbs R-12?

I have ran into a guy that will sell me 25lbs of R12 for $175.00. I already have some R12 but hate to pass up a deal. Any opinions?

If it's a sealed tank, sounds like a good deal.

If it's open, have it tested for HC's first.

I talked to the guy and he bought it a long time ago for an older car he owned. He used "a few pounds". He has a scale to weigh the cylinder. Anyone know what just the cylinder should weigh?
FORCEDINDUCTION, where do you get the gas tested?

Any A/C shop should have the equipment to test a sample. Any good shop will check a vehicle's system before they recover the freon to prevent contaminating their existing supply.

While HC based froen's (especially propane) work great in A/C systems, if the system leaks there is a risk of fire.

That is a good deal. As said before, just carry it to most any A/C repair facility and let them test it to be sure it is 100% VIRGIN R-12. They can do it in a couple of minutes.
