84 300D turbo loss of power on pulling out

Hi gents for some time now I've had a problem with slow response when pulling out from stop when tank is half to fourth remaining. I've run purge thru it changed prefilters, main filter to no avail. Last weekend I went up to Beufort, SC and it ran great above half full but after stopping at rest stop above Daytona it started. I went to next rest stop about 50 or 55 tops. Luckily nobody knocked me off the road,ha,ha. what do you all think?? screen in tank? fuel is clear and clean in filter Thanks for any and all help bubbaz2

I can think of two possibilities, either the fuel tank screen is partially clogged or there is a leak someplace in the fuel line that lets in air when the tank is low enough. Do you have any evidence of fuel leaks when the tank is full? Do you see air bubbles moving through the fuel lines/filter when the tank is near empty?

300D power loss

Thanks for quik reply Craig, I haven't found any sign of leaks, also this occurs when pulling out, at idle I haven't seen any bubbles but will check again. bubbaz

I second Craigs opinion. I see regularly fuel lines that leak air but don't really look wet enough to think they leak. I would change ALL feeder fuel lines and remove and clean the tank screen.

where is the tank screen? i may have the same problem. prefilter jacked up with crap, maybe a fungus. stalled the car eventually.

Could also be the return line and fuel line are reversed.

fellow enthusiasts, I think the cigar hose side is return line to tank at injector. I also must apologize to you all for incomplete info on my problem. at second rest stop above Daytona going north I tried normal accel. pull out, same response, low and slow. That's after unpluging kickdown switch. Then I plugged vacuum line to trannie, took off like a rocket. Finished trip to S.C. that way. Hard shift but worked great. I'm still going to change tank lines underneath. I already replaced cigar hose and feed at IP. The low/slow problem occure in Beaufort after I hooked up vac. again. It was running great till third day when shopping. I pulled out of parkihg lot crawled about 40 mph to gas station, filled tank then took off like a rocket again. Tank was at 3/8. I sometimes wonder if boost switch may be sticking? This always happens after running for a time never cold. thans for any and all help

If memory serves a clogged up vent line would
cause this too.

had a lot more trouble with power loss last month or so till I pulled vent valveand cleaned lt also used mity vac to operate it. I had pressure buildup in tank especialley on hot aftrnoons. removing cap on tank you got almost same sound as opening can of soda.I'm still going to pull screen clean tank etc. soon as I burn down to reserve lite even tho above improved the problem a good deal
