Have you tried this coolant?
Has anyone tried the Prestone Heavy duty for diesel engines? Specs say it is safe for aluminum and other metals. I'm just wondering since it seems difficult to find the Zerox G05. It seems like our choices are limited to just going to the dealer if we can't find a better alturnative. Thanks for any input/ advice/ reccamendations!

It would be a good idea to do a search on this one......
There have been many posts on the differences in coolants. If I recall correctly, the biggest difference is in the base chemicals. Sure you may not notice any difference at first but I believe the biggest effect is in the plastics in the system, such as the radiator, become very brittle. It is just not worth saving such few $$'s. Performance Products, and others, ship the MB type to your door.
(What does Heavy Duty for Diesels actually mean other than advertising.)

I found the Zerex G05 at Pep-boys. Bought a bunch since the price seemed good. Heck, we've got five Benz's in the family.

I just buy it from the dealer. Costs a little bit more but so what? I'd rather not drive to every autopart store in town looking for G05.
MB coolant used to be cheap, I paid $10 a gallon a couple of years ago. I just did a coolant change on the SDL and I think I paid $18 a gallon, thats almost a 100% jump!

You can get the MB labeled stuff on *************** for $23. I saw the Zerex at kragen for $5.99 on sale last week but didnt buy any since i can get the true MB stuff at my new job ( a european parts wharehouse) for dirt cheap Due to legal reasons i cant say the name of my work but lets just say they supply to the fastlane parts section on this forum
