Real World Diesel Mileage?
Am considering the purchase of a new MBZ E320 CDI diesel sedan. Would like to hear from current owners about the real world diesel mileage they have been getting in town and on the highway at 65-75 mph. Thanks!!!

I want to say 90% of the people here drive 617s and 601,602, and 603s. I would like a CDI myself, but that would entail getting rid of my Marauder.

My father has one, as I recall he was getting 27-29 around town and 33-34 on the highway. I suspect the highway mileage was at 60-65MPH.
It's quite an impressive car, I look forward to the day when I'll be able to afford one. |

Gilles, a couple of friends have '06 cars. Their economy numbers are similar. They seem to do hi twenties around town and have no problem hitting mid-30's or better when running at extra-legal speeds on the highway. The implementation of direct injection has a huge impact on efficiency.
I think it's very fair to say the CDi cars are uberefficient |

Go to your local book store or Wal-Mart and pick up the September issue of Diesel Power magazine. This month they did a great review of the CDI and talked about the upcoming Blue Tooth technology. I think they reported 26.9 mpg in almost all city driving.

Hm. Id think it'd be better than that, hell in the new Car and Driver they got 40 mpg in their BMW 330d, and you know how they drive. Well that was the peak number anyway.

Head over to MBworld. There is a very healthy W211 forum with quite a few CDI owners over there.
