617 injector leaking

I noticed a leak around my injector closest to the firewall. I replaced every return hose. I used clear vinyl (probably wont last but it actually helped me find the problem). Noticed that I wasnt getting any return fuel from last injector. Then I stood on my ear so as to see the leaking fuel. It looks like it is coming out just above the place where the socket grabs it to turn it. After looking at an exploded view, it seems there are two major parts to the injector maybe theres a washer or something in the injector that's worn out. I am getting quite a bit of fuel out of the body of the injector at that joint.

Anyone rebuilt one of these at home? and where would you find the parts? is it worth the $50 to fix it or just buy a new one from phil?

Its an easy at home rebuild. However, the replacement part is the nozzle when you do a rebuild and im not sure a bad nozzle would cause a leak there. My advice would be to pull the injector, take it apart and clean it. Then reassemble and make sure you screw the 2 sections together nice and tight. Reinstall and look for leaks. One other possibility is that you have a crack in the return line nipple that is leaking down into the area where the 2 parts meet making it hard to tell where the leak is. Im sure you will find out once you pull the injector.

Thanks for the insight on the nozzle. I had considered the crack as a possibility and I made sure to look for fuel below it. But I only have fuel coming out where the two halves of the injector come together. Russel from Dieselgiant.com said that a sloppy injector job, done by the POC, could have caused the leak. Due to the carbon not being cleaned properly.

I guess I'll just buy one nozzle for now and then fix the rest later as I have time.

Thanks for your reply.
