Solutions to keep floor mats from bunching up and developing a permanent crease???

In all the cars the floor mats tend to slide forward, fold and develop a permanent crease over time. I have tried the needle clips that come with the floor mats, but they don't work.
Anyone have a good solution to keep the floor mats flat and in position.
I have considered installing snaps in the permanent carpet and then installing snaps in the floor mat to hold them.
Anyone have any good solutions???

have you tried using two needle clips per carpet? i hate putting holes in the carpet, but when i use two that seems to work well

i tried velcro...it worked but when the car got hot the sticky side of the velcro no longer stuck to the carpet

What works for me is to use door mats (i.e. welcome mats). You have to search around for the right ones though. The ones sold at the big box discount stores nowadays will not work, they have become too thin over the years. Search around real hardware stores or other home stores. You will know the right ones when you see them. At least 3/8 thick. Usually available in several colors. You will need to cut them to fit. The heavy weight and flat rubber bottom will keep them from sliding around.

Use the clips MB provides.

There is a post somewhere here where the person describes
using steel strips (they used windshield wiper steel inserts) to
attach to the bottom the mats, these forced the mat to keep shape
and still flex to fit floor.

I liked the idea, have not done it, but thought it sounded absolute.
