HELP Alternator Bolt is GONE!
I was looking under my car (84 300SD) and the bottom alternator bolt is gone.
the alternator is not moving, the top bolt is holding it in place, the alternator is pushed up agenst the blcok. all i can think is the guy who changed the alternator for me a while back must have done this, because everythign is tight. when i changed the alternator years ago i remember that the botom bolt threaded into the bracket... and NAPA dosen't know what size bolt that is. So, can anyone tell me the diameter, lenght and thread pitch of the bottom alternator bolt? Thanks Nik

Don't know the numbers offhand, but, that bolt is going to be a dealer item. It's got a precision fit to the bracket and any generic bolt is not going to work for you.

BTW, you have Caliber Motors out in CA that does a large mail order business and the prices cannot be beat. You should give them a call! |

I remember loosing that bolt on the 123, which has the same alternators than early 126. that was a 5", M10 13mm head medium thread. Hope it helps. my eperience with bolt and fastenrs on Mercos is that they are mostly standard metric fare (I actually never encounter a sizing problem yet; except for the #%!@# Chrysler ACCII unit in the W116 that had 3/8" bolt heads!!!!).

Mercedes part # 000931 010388
It's officially called a screw, since there's no nut. There is a spring washer, though, at the head; standard type. The part # seems odd, but that's what's in the EPC. Call around; Phil, Caliber, dealer.
