Blower Power Location?
 

I've been having the usual blowing fuses problem with the blower in my 82 300TDT. I picked up a 30amp in line fuse from AutoZone & want to put it in place of the power lead from the fuse box. I fugured $3.00 in the fuse & wire is better than what Mercedes wants for it! I did check the brushes & commutator a while ago & they were fine.
Anyhow, I just want to find out for sure where it goes? I'm pretty sure it goes to the blower resistor box on the fenderwell, but I'm not positive.

I ripped the auto cc out of an '82 TD not too long ago, and don't remember any wiring for the fan/cc leaving the cabin (save that going to the monovalve).

If I remember correctly, it just wraps around the back of the heater box, and goes to the cc "brain" in the center console.

Probably doesn't help much, but it is the best I can do....

Tango, Right now there is only a 16 amp fuse on #8 for the heater blower & some other things. Mercedes has a "kit" that is a 30 amp in line fuse that you attach to the incoming power at the fuse box & run to where the blower power lead goes. Basically you replace the original lead with this new one that has its own 30 amp fuse instead of the shared 15 amp one. There are a lot of threads about how the blower over time pulls more power & starts popping the #8 fuse, so you replace it with this kit.

If the blower is actually drawing enough current to blow the 15 amp fuse, I would look at repairing/replacing the blower motor instead of installing a bigger fuse. High current draw from the blower (as well as the aux. water pump) has a tendency to toast the CCU. IMHO, this "fix" is not a good idea. Fix the problem, not the symptoms.
