vacuum shut off for ip (why plastic?)

On my 190D, the vacuum cutoff switch for the ip failed. Good excuse to buy a mitvac and track it down to the switch on the ip. Ordered a new one from Phil. The replacement part is plastic except for brass liners for the screw holes. Made by bosch. The previous part was metal, used hold down washers and had the vacuum connection from the side. This one had screw holes and the vacuum connection came off the top. Is this the experience of others who have replaced the vacuum cut off switch? Is this just for the
60X series of engines? I'm not sure this part will last as long as the previous? Should I have looked for a different brand? Did I possibly get the wrong part? Oh well, it works for now. Probably shouldn't worry about it.
