need vacuum pump
so i brought my 240D to the shop to get the vacuum pump rebuild kit installed. i had no time this month for any work and gave him some other small chores like belts, injector return lines, and tie rods. all small things but time consuming.
so he said that the vacuum kit did not work and needs either a new pump or a more expensive rebuild kit ($135). i will pick the car up now and talk with him more, but i told him i would want to look around for a pump myself first. what should i be looking at for a pump? it is the lever type and has 2 hoses comming from it. if anyone has a parts car that could sell me one that would be great too.

so he said that the vacuum kit did not work and needs either a new pump or a more expensive rebuild kit ($135). Perhaps the check valves were not included in the kit, they are not cheap and I haven't had much luck getting "non working" ones too work. So ask him about check valves, seems I had to buy them separate.

i've got what you need
Hi,
I have the same vacuum pump problem with my 300D Turbo. My good friend has a salvage yard in California. I asked him to send me a vacuum pump off of a W123 car, but I didn't realize that the pumps for the 240D and the 300D turbo are different. I need one that has only one vacuum outlet and the 240 pumps have two, which i what you need. It came off of a running California car, but that is all I know. At a glance the internals (roller, bearings and mechanism) look good and the casing is in good shape. If you are interested give me a call and we'll work it out. I am in New York. Ryan 917-848-3657

I think the vacuum pumps are the same for 240 & 300 The newer style (one hose out) are used in both cars after about "80". My "78" has the older style and the "85" has the new style.
