Fan Shrouds
Are the fan shrouds for a W124 gasser the same as a diesel? I bought my car and it didn't have a shroud. I really don't know if it's necessary to have one, does it increase air flow, or is it just a safety item?

Hi, the fan shroud is a necessary item in my book, true you can run without one but its purpose is to assure that all the air gets pulled evenly through the radiator across its width and height. I don't believe they aren't terribly expensive. When its hot you need every bit of cooling that was designed around the 603 engine. Winter might not be so necessary but I would sure want one on my car in the summer!
The one used on a gasser like the 300E is different as I recall. DDH
