123 fender trim replacement

Hello,
I have a 1985 300D with rusty front fenders. I have new replacement fenders here and am wondering how to remove the thin upper trim piece from the old fenders and secure them to the newly painted fenders. Can anyone give me advice on how to do this without destroying the trim? If I will need to replace any clips, what are they and where can I get them?
New to body work, I'd be thankful for any help you can offer.
Brian
